Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using DoorFee ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service. We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Description of Service

DoorFee provides a platform for Discord server owners to manage paid subscriptions, including payment processing through Stripe, automated role management, sales page creation, and subscriber management tools. The Service acts as an intermediary between server owners ("Clients") and their subscribers ("End Users").

3. Account Registration

To use certain features of the Service, you must register for an account using Discord OAuth. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
  • Not share or transfer your account to another person

4. Payment Terms

All payments are processed through Stripe. By using our payment features, you agree to:

  • Pay all applicable fees as described in your selected plan
  • Provide valid payment information
  • Authorize us to charge your payment method for recurring subscriptions
  • Accept that platform fees (2.5% for Pro, 10% for Free) are deducted from transactions in addition to Stripe's processing fees

4.1 Platform Plans

DoorFee offers a Free tier (10% platform transaction fee) and a Pro tier ($28/month or $236/year with 2.5% platform transaction fee). Plan pricing and features are subject to change with reasonable notice. You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan at any time.

4.2 Subscriber Payments

Clients set their own subscription pricing for End Users. Payments from End Users are processed via Stripe Connect, with platform fees and Stripe processing fees deducted before payout to the Client. Payouts are made directly to the Client's connected Stripe account.

4.3 Refunds and Disputes

Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Server owners are responsible for their own refund policies with their subscribers. Chargebacks and payment disputes are subject to Stripe's dispute resolution process. Excessive chargebacks may result in account suspension.

5. Subscriptions and Billing

DoorFee supports flexible subscription billing for End Users, including:

  • Daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly billing intervals
  • Free trial periods as configured by the Client
  • Subscription pausing and resuming
  • Tier upgrades and downgrades with prorated billing
  • Coupon codes and promotional discounts

If a recurring payment fails, there is a grace period during which we attempt to recover the payment. We will send automated notifications (renewal reminders, grace period warnings, and win-back offers) to help recover failed payments. If payment cannot be recovered, the subscription will be cancelled and access revoked. Trial abuse (creating multiple accounts to repeatedly use free trials) is prohibited and may result in account termination.

5.1 Payment Disputes

When a payment dispute (chargeback) is filed, a 24-hour grace period is applied before the subscription is cancelled. During this period, the server owner may attempt to resolve the dispute directly with the subscriber. If the dispute is not resolved within the grace period, the subscription will be automatically cancelled and access revoked.

5.2 Tier Changes

Subscribers may upgrade or downgrade their subscription tier. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades are scheduled to take effect at the end of the current billing period to ensure you retain access to your current tier until the period ends.

6. Client Responsibilities

As a Client using DoorFee to manage subscriptions, you agree to:

  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Not use the Service for illegal or prohibited activities
  • Provide accurate descriptions of your subscription offerings
  • Handle subscriber disputes and refund requests appropriately
  • Comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines
  • Comply with Stripe's Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy
  • Not sell or promote prohibited content (see Prohibited Content section)
  • Ensure any email marketing complies with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and other applicable anti-spam laws
  • Obtain appropriate consent before sending marketing communications to subscribers

7. Sales Pages and User-Generated Content

DoorFee provides a page builder for creating sales pages. By using the page builder, you agree that:

  • You are solely responsible for the content you publish on your sales pages
  • Your content must not infringe on any third party's intellectual property rights
  • We may remove or disable sales pages that violate these Terms
  • Custom HTML, CSS, or embedded content must not contain malicious code
  • Sales page content must accurately represent the subscription offering

7.1 Custom Domains

Pro tier Clients may connect custom domains to their sales pages. You are responsible for domain ownership and DNS configuration. We provide automatic SSL/TLS certificates for connected domains. We reserve the right to disconnect domains used in violation of these Terms.

7.2 Embeddable Widgets

DoorFee provides embeddable checkout buttons and widgets for use on external websites. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of these embeds complies with the terms of the websites where they are placed.

7.3 Reviews

Clients may enable customer reviews on their sales pages. Reviews must be genuine and not fabricated or manipulated. Clients may moderate reviews for appropriateness but must not selectively remove negative reviews to mislead potential subscribers.

8. Affiliate Program

DoorFee offers an affiliate program that allows users to earn commissions by referring new subscribers. By participating in the affiliate program, you agree to the following:

  • Commissions are earned on qualifying referred subscriptions as defined by each server's affiliate program settings
  • A minimum payout threshold applies before commissions can be withdrawn
  • Commissions may be reversed (clawed back) if the referred subscription is refunded or results in a chargeback
  • Referrals are tracked using an attribution window; referrals outside this window do not qualify for commission
  • Payouts are made to your connected Stripe account
  • Fraudulent or manipulative referral activities (including self-referrals, cookie stuffing, or misleading advertising) will result in forfeiture of commissions and potential account termination

9. Email Marketing and Communications

DoorFee provides email marketing tools and integrations with third-party email platforms (Brevo, Mailchimp, Klaviyo). By using these features:

  • You agree to comply with all applicable anti-spam laws (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CASL)
  • You will only send marketing emails to users who have opted in
  • All marketing emails must include a functional unsubscribe mechanism
  • You will honor unsubscribe requests promptly
  • You will not use the email features to send spam, phishing, or malicious content

DoorFee may send transactional emails on your behalf (payment confirmations, subscription changes, etc.). These are not considered marketing communications and are necessary for the operation of the Service.

10. Tracking and Analytics

Clients may add third-party tracking pixels (such as Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, TikTok Pixel, and others) to their sales pages. By adding tracking pixels, you represent that you have the legal right to use them and that their use complies with applicable privacy laws and the respective platform's terms of service. You are responsible for disclosing tracking pixel usage to your End Users as required by law.

11. Team Management

Clients may invite team members ("Managers") with granular permissions to help manage their server. You are responsible for the actions of your team members and for appropriately configuring their permissions. Team members are bound by these Terms.

12. Server Transfers

Server owners may transfer ownership of their server to another DoorFee user. Transfers require acceptance by the new owner and are finalized automatically after acceptance. During the transfer process, the original owner retains access. Once completed, the new owner assumes full responsibility for the server, its subscribers, and compliance with these Terms. Pending transfers expire if not accepted within the configured timeframe.

13. Discord Bot

The DoorFee Discord bot automatically manages role assignments based on subscription status. By adding the bot to your server, you authorize it to assign and remove roles, send messages in designated channels, and manage member access as configured. The bot requires certain Discord permissions to function and you are responsible for ensuring the bot has appropriate permissions in your server.

14. Prohibited Content

You may not use the Service to sell or promote:

  • Illegal goods or services
  • Content that violates intellectual property rights
  • Harmful, fraudulent, or deceptive content
  • Content that exploits minors
  • Malware, hacking tools, or services for malicious purposes
  • Content prohibited by Stripe's acceptable use policy
  • Gambling, unless properly licensed in your jurisdiction

15. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by DoorFee and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of content you create using the Service, but grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display, distribute, and cache it as necessary to provide the Service. This license terminates when you delete your content or close your account.

16. Account Deletion and Data Export

You may request deletion of your account at any time. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed or anonymized, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records retained for 7 years). You may request an export of your data before deletion. Active subscriptions should be cancelled before account deletion.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DoorFee shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

18. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. We are not responsible for any issues with Discord, Stripe, or other third-party services.

19. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties, or for any other reason at our sole discretion.

  • Soft ban: Your server may be hidden from public listings and new payments disabled while under review. You may appeal through our support channels.
  • Hard ban: Permanent removal of your server and associated data after a 30-day grace period. Active subscriptions will be cancelled.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including limitation of liability and governing law) will remain in effect.

20. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms will be resolved through binding arbitration in the State of Delaware.

21. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
